Thank God that I was in the right place at the right time. I attest that the power of God moved in my life through the programs and opportunities provided to me through the Lilly Endowment grant for Spiritual and Ethical Dimensions of Leadership (SEDL).

During my senior year at Howard, I searched to discover what was next in my life. I struggled to find meaning in my classroom studies, while searching to discern exactly what God planned for my life. Through SEDL, I participated in several different programs that helped me to understand that I was not alone in the search and struggle. I was encouraged and affirmed through the discernment process and exposed to various aspects, topics, and issues surrounding the call to vocational ministry.

For example, the study of "Listening Hearts" with the Chapel Assistants gave me the opportunity to quiet myself and learn to listen to God's voice. The discussions and presentations I attended with the Pre-Ministry Fellowship exposed me to both the academic and practical aspects of vocational ministry. In addition to the SEDL programs and activities, my life was greatly enriched by the fellowship I experienced, the conversations I had, and the relationships I formed with the entire Chapel community.

All of these experiences have helped me to hear, believe, and accept that God has a purpose for my life, and have made me comfortable with my decision to accept God's call to ministry and to pursue seminary study.

In August of 2004, I started the Master of Divinity program at Wesley and four months later, I was licensed to preach the Gospel by the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington D.C. To God be the glory for the great things he has done!
